Social Entrepreneurship Challenge - 2020
"Life beyond plastic" was the key theme of the first ever Social Entrepeneurship Challenge organized by the newly created youth movement Impact Wombats in 2020.
Ten teams of high school students worked for a week, assisted by experienced coaches and entrepreneur mentors, to develop a financially sustainable solution to the problem of plastic waste. The digitally held Challenge became a platform for young people to learn more about the world and themselves, to unleash their imagination and use that creative drive to build a vision of a sustainable future.

An expert jury of impact investors and sustainability professionals had a hard time having to select the winners - the breadth and quality of students' ideas have been outstanding. Yet the team of Maxine, Rashi, Lieuwe, and Ludwig of St.George's International School was the most convincing. Their no-plastic solution for the HoReCa sector earned them a trip to Amsterdam on a very special mission - fishing plastic from the city canals and exploring creative ways of recycling and reusing plastic waste together with Plastic Whale.
