Ten teams of high school students worked for a week, assisted by experienced coaches and entrepreneur mentors, to develop a financially sustainable solution to the problem of plastic waste. The digitally held Challenge became a platform for young people to learn more about the world and themselves, to unleash their imagination and use that creative drive to build a vision of a sustainable future.
An expert jury of impact investors and sustainability professionals had a hard time having to select the winners - the breadth and quality of students' ideas have been outstanding. Yet the team of Maxine, Rashi, Lieuwe, and Ludwig of St.George's International School was the most convincing. Their no-plastic solution for the HoReCa sector earned them a trip to Amsterdam on a very special mission - fishing plastic from the city canals and exploring creative ways of recycling and reusing plastic waste together with
Plastic Whale.
